Corporate Transparency Act - the Final Countdown to Compliance
Date: November 26, 2024
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 pm
Location: Webinar
Overview: With under 2 months remaining to comply with the requirements of the Corporate Transparency Act, PB&L's CTA compliance team is hosting a deep dive into the CTA's requirements. The presentation will focus on the role Utah practitioners have to their clients under the CTA and the approach PB&L has taken with respect to the CTA.
The CTA is a federal law which requires, several to limited exceptions, that every business entity (LLC, LLP and INC) register its “beneficial owners” with FinCEN prior to December 31, 2024.
Presenter: Tyler G. MacKay
A member of Parsons Behle & Latimer's Corporate practice, Tyler MacKay represents businesses of all sizes in startup, capital raising, exits, and general corporate and transactional matters. His practice is steeped in venture capital and the entrepreneurship ecosystem. As an early employee at two venture-backed SaaS startups providing software to venture capital firms, Tyler experienced the challenges that founders and investors face first-hand, from finding product-market fit and managing hyper growth to M&A transactions.
Tyler's practice also includes representing investors, angel groups, and venture and growth capital firms on structuring, forming, and operating funds and deploying capital as well as franchisors and franchisees in brand acquisition, disposition and structuring issues.
Cost: Free

Volunteer Opportunities
The Paralegal Division has been invited to volunteer our time at the next Wills for Heroes event hosted by the Young Lawyer Division of the Utah State Bar, on November 16, 2024 from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. This event will be held at the Washington County Sheriff's Office located at 620 S 530 W, Hurricane, Utah 84737. We would like to extend this invitation to our division members to come join our board members for this event and we need 4 notaries and 1 additional witnesses (for a total of 5 volunteers). Please note that notaries will not be compensated for their volunteer time.
For many years, the Utah State Bar and the Young Lawyers Division have hosted this event wherein attorneys donate their time to prepare estate planning documents for our first responders and their immediate families. The Paralegal Division contributes to this event by providing notaries and witnesses to finalize the documents. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to those who risk their lives and help us in our most dire moments, and it is our honor to show them our appreciation through this volunteer program.
If you are interested in participating in this event, please contact the Paralegal Division general inbox at [email protected]. Please use "Wills for Heroes" in the subject line and we will provide you with remaining details and information. Volunteer spots will be given on a first come, first serve basis, so please reach out to us as soon as possible to secure your spot. We will need your commitment to arrive promptly at 9:30 am and stay through 1:00 pm. Jeans are acceptable attire, but please remember this is a professional service we are providing, so please dress accordingly. Additionally, the Young Lawyers Division provides lunch to all volunteers present for the entire event. When emailing with your interest, please notify us of any food allergies.
We appreciate your interest in volunteering your time to first responders and we look forward to participating in this event with our division members!

Volunteers always welcome! We are always looking for volunteers to help us out in our committees. The Education Committee oversees our CLE events; the Community Service Committee organizes and coordinates our community service events, and our Publications/Marketing Committee distributes our newsletters and Bar Journal Articles. If you are looking for a way to be more hands-on involved in the division, participating on a committee is an excellent way to lend your support. For more information on any of these committees, and how to get involved, please email us at [email protected] and put “Committee Volunteer” in the subject line. One of our Board Members will reach out to you to provide additional information. Thank you for your interest in our division; we appreciate all our member participation in making our division great!
