Ethical Uses of Artificial Intelligence for Paralegals
Date: March 27, 2024
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 pm
Location: Online - Login information will be sent the evening of March 26th
Overview: This CLE will discuss what AI is, the benefits and perils of using AI in your law practice, some important ethical considerations, and practical pointers on how to use AI to benefit your firm and your clients.
Presenter: Keith Call
Keith Call was born in Heber, Utah, long before Heber was cool. He lived in the middle of town and his dad was a lawyer, so his friends all called him a city slicker. He called them rednecks. He actually mowed the lawn at the Dairy Keen in Heber for several summers. Nowadays, he wishes he were a real cowboy like all of his friends. Instead, he has been a lawyer for over 30 years, and he actually likes that, too. He has been with Spencer Fane and its predecessor, Snow Christensen & Martineau, for the last 28 years, where his practice focuses on commercial litigation and professional liability defense. He has tons of outdoor interests, but is not very good at any of them. He also loves spending time with his family, watching the Jazz, and cheering for the Yankees.
Cost: Free
CLE Credit: 1 Regular E-Verified CLE Credit (Pending Approval)

Volunteer Opportunities
The Paralegal Division has been invited to volunteer our time at the next Wills for Heroes event hosted by the Young Lawyer Division of the Utah State Bar, on March 13, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This event will be held at the Dixie Convention Center located at 1835 S Convention Center Drive, St. George, Utah 84790.
If you have not been able to attend a Wills for Heroes event before, we highly encourage you to participate. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our emergency first responders and their families. The Young Lawyers Division will be preparing estate planning documents and are seeking paralegals to assist as notaries and witnesses. A meal will be provided for all participants.
If you are in the area and would like to participate, please use the link below to sign up:
(Note: The signup form is labeled "Attorneys for Wills for Heroes," but it is also intended for paralegals.)

For many years, the Utah State Bar and the Young Lawyers Division have hosted this event wherein attorneys donate their time to prepare estate planning documents for our first responders and their immediate families. The Paralegal Division contributes to this event by providing notaries and witnesses to finalize the documents. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to those who risk their lives and help us in our most dire moments, and it is our honor to show them our appreciation through this volunteer program.
If you are interested in participating in this event, please contact the Paralegal Division general inbox at [email protected]. Please use "Wills for Heroes" in the subject line and we will provide you with remaining details and information. Volunteer spots will be given on a first come, first serve basis, so please reach out to us as soon as possible to secure your spot. We will need your commitment to arrive promptly at 9:30 am and stay through 1:00 pm. Jeans are acceptable attire, but please remember this is a professional service we are providing, so please dress accordingly. Additionally, the Young Lawyers Division provides lunch to all volunteers present for the entire event. When emailing with your interest, please notify us of any food allergies.
We appreciate your interest in volunteering your time to first responders and we look forward to participating in this event with our division members!

Volunteers always welcome! We are always looking for volunteers to help us out in our committees. The Education Committee oversees our CLE events; the Community Service Committee organizes and coordinates our community service events, and our Publications/Marketing Committee distributes our newsletters and Bar Journal Articles. If you are looking for a way to be more hands-on involved in the division, participating on a committee is an excellent way to lend your support. For more information on any of these committees, and how to get involved, please email us at [email protected] and put “Committee Volunteer” in the subject line. One of our Board Members will reach out to you to provide additional information. Thank you for your interest in our division; we appreciate all our member participation in making our division great!
